I am an education economist working on issues related to student performance in secondary education and tracking. My other interests are labor economics and family economics.
I defended my PhD thesis Tracking Students in Secondary Education: Consequences for Student Performance and Inequality on Thursday June 18th, 2015. My thesis contains five research chapters on tracking students in secondary education. My thesis, more current versions of some of these chapters, and other papers are available under Research.
I am currently working at the Inspectorate of Education. I am a research fellow at the Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) and at the College for Interdisciplinairy Educational Research (CIDER).

Ik ben een onderwijseconoom en richt me in mijn onderzoek vooral op leerprestaties in het voortgezet onderwijs en het indelen van leeringen in onderwijsniveaus. Mijn andere interesses zijn arbeidseconomie en economie van het gezin.
Op 18 juni 2015 heb ik mijn proefschrift Tracking Students in Secondary Education: Consequences for Student Performance and Inequality met succes verdedigd. Mijn proefschrift bestaat uit vijf hoofdstukken over verschillende aspecten van het indelen van leerlingen op de middelbare school in onderwijsniveaus (vmbo, havo, vwo). Mijn proefschrift, meer recentere versies van sommige hoofdstukken en andere artikelen zijn beschikbaar onder het menukopje Research. Een Nederlandse samenvatting van mijn proefschrift vindt u hier.
Ik werk momenteel bij de Inspectie van het Onderwijs. Ik ben een research fellow van het Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) en van het College for Interdisciplinairy Educational Research (CIDER).
